1. The main thing to do before starting to edit a page is making sure that you know what you’re going to add or change.
2. So you’re ready to contribute. Great! Start by looking for the button “Edit” located on the top right corner of every page in Wikispaces. When you click that, a box will pop up with the page fully editable.
3. You can start typing more content straight into the page, but when you’re done don’t forget to click theSave button on the top right of the box.
4. When you want to edit the sidebar, instead of the button on the top right, there is an edit navigation link on the bottom of the sidebar. With the sidebar, be careful since there’s a lot of formatting behind it and you don’t want the rage of the designer behind that.

1. Sometimes, you find a great little program that give users an interactive opportunity to do something such as vote, chat or add more advanced content. The answer behind all this is to embed a widget. Most programs or tools online that could be used in a blog have an embed code.
2. Copy the embed code and go to the edit box mentioned above. This time however, click the widget button that’s in the box’s top and choose custom HTML (last option).
3. Paste your embed code into the box and click OK. At this point, you won’t be able to the see the widget displayed. Press save, and you should be able view your widget on the page that you added it on.

How do I post to discussion threads?external image V8IG5pcpMX4zmB8w5a0U7jSWthiOKiCy27kzCdLgNSK9RADADB2cdBf7mjwCqUojP9uFXXoOnsBxWAVGMP5RobjfVJy31rlL37XqwRPltiuh609SBHbKVptUSgFym2Z3external image 0VvSIkG_ZDNjdcchXwl7eapoWICaRQvg9cPxqsc020TpBU9XssDcBhepVYQAHziXz_nheRDd_KgmHJDxs5bq1HiWiQMDS0PVa4O4o1YHIDsnkIdjasMLBH9OdvFbQhlk
On each page on the Wikispaces, there are four different tabs. One of them being the discussion tab. Here, you can start individual threads and discuss things like homework deadlines, extracurricular activities, or anything else important. Discussions are great ways to engage everyone, as well as reflect and collaborate on anything that needs to be done.

1. To start a new discussion thread, all you have to do is click + New Post. Enter in a subject and a message, and you’re good to go.
2. If you want to get notifications when someone replies to your thread, you can check off the boxMonitor this topic. You will then automatically receive e-mails every time someone posts.
3. All discussion threads are shown on the main discussion tab, and you can view any of them. Subjects, authors, replies, and view are all shown.
4. If you’re looking for something specific, you can always search for it by using the “Search Posts” bar.

Links are a useful way to navigate around both the Wikispace and other content available on the web.

1. To add a link, first with editing the page (‘editing a page’ above).
2. Highlight the text you want to link.
3. On the tool bar at the top of the screen, you’ll see a “Link” icon. Click it.
4. A small window should pop up showing you three tabs. For the purpose of this FAQ, we’ll only work with the first two tabs - “Wiki Link” and “External Link”
5. For “Wiki Link”, you should see 3 info boxes - “Link Text”, “Wiki”, and “Page Name”. If your selected text matches a pre-existing page name, the wiki will automatically connect the two and create a link. If the link text and the page name are different, you will have to manually select the page from the drop down list.
6. For “External Link”, you should see 2 info boxes - “Link Text” and “Address”. The link text will automatically be what you’ve selected, and the address can be any URL you type into it.
7. With both wiki links and external links, you can check off a “New Window” box to open the link in a separate window.

1. To upload a file, first edit the page (‘editing a page’ - above)
2. On the toolbar at the top of the page, locate the button called “File”.
3. You should be able to find an Upload Files button on the right of the dialog box. Then, find the file that you want to add onto the page. (Of course, you have to have it saved on your computer).
4. The file will then show on the left hand side of the dialog box. To upload the file, just click on the thumbnail and it will automatically post an icon. This icon will change depending on file type.
5. Your file has now been uploaded onto the page and can be downloaded by anyone by clicking on said icon.
